Central Elementary was an earth-sheltered school designed and construced in 1980 to maximize consercation efforts.  The entire school was underground; however, as time passed and the culture of education changed, the district desired more natural light for the students.  By removind the earth from the roof and surrounding walls, we were able to install 42 new windows that produced ample natural light and created the desired outcome for the district.  In addition, new brick veneer exterior was installed and interior remodeling and upgrades were completed.

EXISTING UNDERGROUND STRUCTURE

Concurrent to the work being completed at Central Elementary, we also coordinated and produced construction documents for extensive mechanical and electrical improvements to the NYA Middle and High Schools.  The work of this project will provide the studnets with an up-to-date safe environment which included the following:

  • Ventilation System Upgrade
  • New Temperature Control System
  • Repair Domestic Water System
  • Electrical Service Upgrades
  • Install New Security System
  • Replace Exit and Emergency Lighting
