East Ridge High School has been designated to make every teaching station a learning lab.  A learning lab is a place where listening, observing, experimenting and demonstration can occur. Every classroom has the technology and acoustics for maximum understanding, and is adjacent to a "hands-on" student study area that allows for creative teaching methods.  These learning labs are organized into six areas.  Each area contains classrooms, lab spaces, study spaces, teacher planning areas, SPED rooms, student restrooms, student lockers, and staff restrooms

The building is composed to allow community use of the 950 seat auditorium, 2200 seat gymnasium, activity center with a fitness track, cafeteria, and group lecture room without compressing the security and operations of the sustainable and green architecture elements that have been comprehensively incorporated.  Daylight has been brought into the most interior areas of the building through roof skylights and a two-story atria.  Mechanical systems have been designed to maximize air quality and minimize energy use.  Heat recovery systems, variable motion, intelligent controls, numerous electrical features and building construction elements have resulted in large financial rebates.  All building materials have been selected based on their sustainable value and proximity to the project site.
